About the Role
The Company is seeking a Department Chair for Agricultural and Environmental Sciences to provide visionary leadership and strategic direction. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with faculty to develop and review academic standards, curricula, and procedures, as well as managing the department's budget and resources. This role involves overseeing a diverse department that offers B.S. degrees in agribusiness, animal science, and environmental science, and includes the management of a 400-acre farm and field lab. The Department Chair will also be tasked with strengthening faculty engagement, expanding student recruitment and retention efforts, and representing the department at various events. Applicants for the Department Chair position at the company should hold a graduate degree in a relevant discipline, with a preference for an earned doctorate, and have a record of teaching and research at the associate professor level or above. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader, an accomplished educator and researcher, and a champion of teaching, scholarship, and service. Key responsibilities include scheduling course offerings, managing personnel, and advocating for the department's needs. The role requires a commitment to high-quality undergraduate education, excellence in teaching, and a proven track record of impactful research. The Department Chair will also be expected to teach within their discipline and to encourage and support engaged teaching, scholarly activity, and professional development within the department.
