Position Summary (Basic Job Function) This is a temporary or an on-call position. Serve as a proctor for MSU classroom exams, which involves checking-in examinees, monitoring examinees during tests, following standard operating procedures, and completing paperwork as necessary. Will conduct 'active proctoring,' which requires the ability to walk or stand for up to three hours. Must understand and follow the policies and procedures of each department, and defer to instructor if/when cheating behavior is observed. Unit Position Summary Conducts proctoring duties across colleges at MSU as assigned by the Testing Center Manager or designated representative. Proctoring is typically completed in person, but can be conducted remotely as required by requesting units. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: Completes proctor training annually and as required by MSU colleges/programs. Ensures academic integrity throughout the following: Accomplishes test candidate check-in and check-out processes. Continuous monitoring of test candidates during exam administration. Collects and inventories exam material upon completion (as required). Enforces test administration rules to include test candidate dismissal for policy violations. Completes proctor report for Testing Center Manager. Tracks and coordinates scheduling conflicts with Testing Center Manager or designated representative. Reports employee hours upon completion of proctoring assignment. Performs other duties as assigned. Communications/Interpersonal Relationships: Interacts with: Students - in order to provide information and answer questions. Graduate Students/Teaching Assistants - in order to administer examinations. Student Employees - in order to administer examinations. Faculty/Staff/Managers - in order to administer examinations. Supervisors/Administrative Assistants - in order to receive work assignments and training, and to exchange information. Co-workers/Representatives for other University departments - in order to exchange information, resolve problems and receive training as required. Desired Qualifications Knowledge normally acquired through a high school education. Preferred qualifications: Previous experience as a teacher, professor, librarian, or test administrator.
