The Safety Manager stays abreast of the requirements, regulations and developments related to quality assurance (QA) and food protection as it applies to the food distribution industry. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a product protection culture that ensures all operational processes meet QA requirements. This position is also responsible for understanding and communicating all aspects of safety and ensuring all operational activities are performed in a safe manner.

The Safety Manager position will conduct driver safety checks and requires travel.

Essential Job Functions/Principal Accountabilities:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to act as a content expert for quality assurance and must understand all customer QA requirements and relevant government entities. Other job functions include:
  • Responsible for BRC annual audit .
  • Facilitate all federal, state and local inspections of the facility including documentation of the site visit.
  • Lead all safety-related programs including monthly safety committee meetings, safety 5-Os, required review and communication of the Management Safety Standards, teammate meetings safety topic reviews, safety blitz, updating the safety awareness boards, post-accident and injury preventability rulings and retraining.
  • Manage team in Maintenance and Sanitation.
Minimum Skills & Qualifications:

A teammate in this position must have:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 3-5 years' experience in warehousing, distribution, and safety.
  • Understand computer software related to record keeping and communication.
  • Strong communication skills and work within the framework of a team.
  • Travel as needed.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to continuously walk, stand, and climb over the period of their shift.
  • Work in all areas of a distribution center and may require work in hot and cold temperature extremes and exposure to dust, dirt, fumes, noise, potentially harmful chemicals and solvents.
  • Work in close proximity to other teammates.
Salary Range: $66,000 - $80,000 Plus annual bonus potential.
