SUMMARY:

The Raw Material Quality Specialist is responsible for overseeing the receipt, inspection, testing, and release of all incoming raw materials used in the manufacturing of topical animal health products including shampoos, conditioners, dental rinses, and wipes at Vetio Animal Health. This role ensures compliance with USP, FDA, and internal quality standards while collaborating with procurement and manufacturing to ensure only qualified materials and vendors are approved for use.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Receiving and Inspection:
  • Perform visual inspection of incoming materials for damage, contamination, or mislabeling.
  • Review documentation to confirm conformance with purchase orders and supplier specifications.
  • Collect representative samples for quality testing in accordance with SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
  • 2. Testing and Release:
  • Execute identity tests as required.
  • Interpret test results to determine compliance with USP or internal specifications.
  • Place materials in quarantine until full quality review and official release for use.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC, warehouse, and production to ensure timely material availability.
  • 3. Documentation and Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records for all receipts, test results, COAs, and release documentation.
  • Log discrepancies and investigate non-conforming materials or documentation issues.
  • Participate in audits and support regulatory inspections with thorough documentation.
  • 4. Vendor and Material Qualification:
  • Evaluate and recommend new vendors and raw materials based on performance, quality history, and risk.
  • Collaborate in the creation and approval of raw material specifications.
  • Support the Vendor Qualification and Change Control programs as needed.
  • 5. Other Responsibilities:
  • Follow all safety procedures and GMP requirements while handling raw materials.
  • Assist in inventory reconciliation and raw material traceability.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to support supply chain, quality, and manufacturing alignment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in raw material receiving, inspection, and qualification within a regulated (pharmaceutical or cosmetic) environment.
  • Working knowledge of USP/NF standards and GMP/GLP requirements.
  • Experience with quality systems and ERP/inventory systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, and prioritize workload efficiently.
